2017 Sauvignon Blanc Sudtirol Terlaner DOC

Producer: Stachlburg
Production zone: on the stony slopes of Wolfsthurn Castle in Andrian in the middle of the Terlaner designation area, at 300 m elevation.
Vines: 100% sauvignon blanc.
Vinification: a few hours of cold maceration. Steel fermentation and then aged 50% in steel and 50% in used oak barrels for 6 months.
Sensory Characteristics:
Colour : light straw color, brilliant.
Aroma: beautiful aromas of gooseberry, currants and elderflowers with a tropical and herbaceous background.
Taste: intense and rounder due to the partial oak ageing, balanced and fresh.
Accompaniment: ideal with Dungeness crab, risotto alla Milanese or butternut squash ravioli.
Serving temperature: 8-10° C.
Summary: lively and refined with an elegant and distant hint of barrel ageing. Life is pretty cool up here in Sudtirol just below the Dolomites.
