2018 Bonarda dell’Oltrepò Pavese DOC Frizzante

Production zone: from the hills in the town of Cigognola, an area that is suited to growing Croatina.

Vines: 100% Croatina

Vinification: hand picked grapes.  Fermentation in stainless. 

Sensory Characteristics:

Colour:   inky deep ruby with some purple reflexes
Aroma:   intense aromas of strawberry, roses and a light, pleasant vinosity.  A little fig and spices.
Taste:   the perfumed character is nicely balanced by the more tannic, dry finish and the light fizziness.  More red fruits and a hint of dark chocolate in the finish.

Accompaniment:  excellent as an aperitivo with little nibbles, salame and light cheeses or with avocado toast and quick-pickled onions.

Serving temperature:  does well at 16-18 C but happy slightly chilled.

Summary: for any wine lover looking for new discoveries Bonarda is a must.  It has an intoxicatingly voluptuous nose, fizzy and fresh mouth feel … simply delicious.
